Missions and Benevolence is the name chosen for the group that leads the planning and promotion for Hazelwood's outreach giving.  Our church has standing commitments to assisting communal giving activities, such as the Week of Compassion which this year send money to areas where a wicked winter weather system walloped much of the nation.

Closer to home we support local agencies such as Christian Ministries, Muncie Mission and Habitat for Humanity.  Three of our largest activities which raise money and involve as many parishioners as possible are, the Muncie Sleeping Rooms, the Crop Walk for world hunger, and Salvation Army Bell ringing.  In 2007-08 a new program to help local charities - Hazelwood Fine Arts Series for Charity - will begin in September and continue through the Spring, 2008, with six musical programs each benefiting a local charity. Hazelwood also participates in the Food Resource Bank where Hazelwood financially supports a local farmer who plants and harvests a crop of soybeans.  The profits from the sale of the crop are used to pay for training of third world farmers so in the future they can feed their families themselves.
